St. Mark’s is in Morrell Park, a neighborhood in southwest Baltimore. We have been a part of the community since 1916. Our roots are in the German evangelical (Protestant) tradition, and we are a part of the United Church of Christ, the church where God is Still Speaking , here and now, and in creative, wonderful, life-giving ways.
St. Marks is an Open and Affirming congregation, which means that we are open to and welcoming of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people. We formally adopted an open and affirming statement several years ago, and count among our leadership openly gay and lesbian church members.
St. Mark’s is a neighborhood church. On Sundays twenty or thirty of us worship together. We’re mostly older, but there are children and people in their twenties, thirties, and forties who make up part of our congregation, too.
Rev. Karen Lovelace is our guide along the journey of faith. Our worship is not complicated, but it is heartfelt.
Because we are relatively small, it is easy to get to know us, and it’s easy for us to get to know you. If you’ve recently moved to Morrell Park, or a nearby neighborhood, please come visit us and enjoy our hospitality.
